Being direct-employees means continuity of care and facilitates a “family” atmosphere. The home has a comprehensive training programme and a high proportion of its staff have achieved NVQ qualifications.
Theresa Hills & Gary Lamb
Theresa is the one of the chefs at Woodchurch House and has worked in catering for over 30 years from cadet cooking to contract catering. She enjoys catering for individual needs which are devised in conjunction with the residents to provide a healthy nutritional diet.
Gary is the other chef at Woodchurch House and he started his career aged 18 at the Ashford International Hotel, where he learnt all areas of catering. He later went on to become a sous chef in a fine dinning restaurant, where his emphasise was always on producing high quality meals using fresh and seasonal foods. He later worked at Grosvenor Court where he became Head Chef and this is where he learnt to cater for specialist dietary requirements, working within a budget, looking after staff as well as producing fresh and seasonal menus.
Gary has been able to bring all his knowledge and experience to Woodchurch House and is truly enjoying working in such a great environment. He enjoys the challenge of creating new and exciting menus that fulfil all of the various dietary needs, and enjoys creating menus for the events and parties that are held at Woodchurch House.

Sam – Maintenance
